Jason Momoa, renowned for his roles in action-packed films and series including the likes of ‘Aquaman’ and ‘Game of Thrones’, had a less recognisable but quality role early in his career. Before embracing caped crusaders and fantasy realms, Momoa was part of a lesser-known soap opera that won critical acclaim.
The actor began his journey into showbusiness on ‘Baywatch Hawaii’, after which he had an important role in a soap opera called ‘North Shore’. Despite its relatively low profile, ‘North Shore’ held its ground with an interesting script and quality performances, including that of Momoa. Though initially it seemed like an odd choice for the future action star, the performance delivered by Momoa was surprisingly effective and hinted at his future potential.
‘North Shore’ is set in a luxury Hawaiian resort and revolves around the individuals who work there. Momoa played Frankie Seau, the hotel’s doorman with a penchant for surfing, adding a classic soap opera charm to the series.
Though this role preceded his big breaks and the surge of superhero roles, his performance was still thoroughly convincing, hinting on his capabilities that would later establish him as a prominent figure in Hollywood. Momoa’s role in ‘North Shore’, despite being relatively forgotten in time, played an important part in his artistic journey and development as an actor.
