Florence Pugh, acclaimed for her roles in films like ‘Midsommar’, expressed doubts about accepting similar roles in the future. Pugh stated that her intensive and emotionally draining role in ‘Midsommar’ felt like self-abuse, which was simply too much to bear.

In a candid interview, the 25-year-old English actress shared her experiences and feelings from her performance in the horror film. The intensity that she had to summon for her part took a toll on her, leaving her physically and emotionally drained. She confessed, “I definitely felt like I abused myself.”

Pugh further stated, “It was the most amount of dread I’ve ever had to digest in my life.” She went on to suggest that similarly demanding roles may not feature on her acting docket in the future, stating, “I can’t do roles like ‘Midsommar’ again.”

Arguing that the extremely haunting and psychologically-stirring film took a lot out of her, Pugh underscored the commitment it demanded. But while she enjoyed the challenge, the experience pushed her boundaries substantially.

Pugh highlighted the prolonged emotional stress she underwent during the production of the movie, highlighting the stark contrast to roles she had performed before, such as ‘Little Women’. She noted, “That was too much.”

Florence has gained widespread acclaim with her performances in films like ‘Midsommar,’ ‘Little Women,’ and ‘Fighting with My Family.’ However, her revelations have brought attention to the physical and emotional strain actors undergo in their pursuit of delivering immersive performances.
