The Universal Orlando Resort is set to expand substantially with the introduction of a new theme park, Epic Universe. This upcoming addition would make it the fourth recreational park within the Resort’s complex.
Epic Universe promises a unique experience with vast immersive environments unlike anything that has been seen at the Resort before. It will be consisting of a central hub that revolves around interactive fountains, providing a gateway to four distinctive and immersive worlds. Each of these worlds would offer a unique set of attractions, rides, shops, and dining outlets.
Concept art reveals that the park will come with expansive, high-tech attractions, with meticulous attention to detail. It will range from an epic space-themed area and a fantastical fairytale castle, to a lush, dense jungle and a town filled with intriguing, mystical creatures.
Regarding its expected opening date, there have been no official announcements yet from Universal, but enthusiasts and industry insiders estimate it may take several years before it is operational. It is important to note that the recent COVID-19 pandemic has thrown many of the industry’s plans into disarray with operational overturns and financial hurdles.
The architectural design of the new park is undeniably ambitious, with incredible investment in detailed elements. There are also significant new investments in the surrounding areas of the theme park. The drawings indicate a multi-story hotel within the park’s limits which would offer incredible views into the diverse lands of Epic Universe.
Epic Universe is expected to bring economic benefits to the region as well. According to Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings, the project could create up to 14,000 jobs and inject millions into the Central Florida economy [source]. He also emphasized that developments like this further enhance Orlando’s global image as a leading destination for travel and tourism.
