The Pokémon Company recently released a new statement addressing ongoing issues surrounding shortages of Trading Card Game (TCG) supplies and increased activity from scalpers. The issues have escalated following the launch of the new ‘Destined Rivals’ pack, causing considerable concern amongst fans and collectors.

In their statement, the company acknowledged “an unprecedented demand for our trading card products” that it attributes to skyrocketing demand during the COVID-19 pandemic. They further expressed that this huge surge in interest has lead to difficulties in matching supply with demand, which has resulted in some unscrupulous individuals buying up stock to resale at a higher price.

With the launch of the latest addition to the Pokémon TCG, ‘Destined Rivals’, the situation has reached new heights. The Pokémon Company confirmed that a significant portion of pre-order stocks were quickly bought up by scalpers, further exacerbating the supply shortage.

Addressing the concerns, the Pokémon Company explained that they are “actively working to print more of the affected Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity.” They assured the player community that this is a top priority in order to “replenish the market”.

The company also addressed the role of scalpers directly, showing keen awareness of the negative impact they’re having on the community. The statement discussed company plans “to implement measures that will help the situation, while making products accessible and fair to all consumers.” However, the specifics of these measures were not disclosed.

The Pokémon Company’s statement concluded by reassuring fans of their commitment to meet the high demand, and requested player patience and understanding during this time.
