In the realm of music collaborations, one that didn’t cross the finish line was between celebrated singer and actress Barbra Streisand and pop icon Madonna. The statement, confirmed by Streisand herself in a recent interview, reports that the two nearly participated in a duet for the classic musical “Annie Get Your Gun.”

The revelation was brought to light when Streisand gave an interview to Australian TV show “The Sunday Project.” During the interview, when asked about her unrealised creative ambitions, she mentioned that she had always wanted to create a version of “I’m An Oak Tree” from the musical, with Madonna joining her as a co-star.

Streisand expressed her admiration for the pop star, saying “I like Madonna because she’s good on screen, but for some reason, it never happened.” Streisand also mentioned that she was willing to direct the project herself.

“Annie Get Your Gun” is a well-known musical initially penned by Irving Berlin in 1946. The track “I’m An Oak Tree” is one of the play’s well-known songs, often used to exemplify the lead character’s resilience and strength.

This news further emphasized Streisand’s continual interest in collaborations with other artists throughout her career. The singer has a lengthy history of working with other musicians, ranging from Neil Diamond and Barry Gibb to Kris Kristofferson and even modern acts like Lady Gaga.

While this specific collaboration never came to fruition, both Streisand and Madonna continue to impact the music industry with their talent and innovation, demonstrating that despite unrealised projects, their influence remains undiminished.
