Wales-based aircraft and spare engine solutions provider, AerFin, has finalised the procurement and disassembly of a Boeing B777-300ER aircraft.

The dismantling process, seen as a major milestone for the company, was conducted in the United Kingdom. This marks the first disassembly and subsequent consignment of a B777 aircraft that the company has carried out, demonstrating AerFin’s commitment to expanding its aircraft tear-down and spare parts capabilities.

Comprising of more than 40,000 individual components, the B777-300ER was carefully broken down into its constituent parts. This process involved removing and cataloguing key airframe and engine components, including landing gears, electronics systems, and turbofan engines, among others.

As the dismantling process was completed, AerFin shared that each part recovered from the B777-300ER has undergone rigorous quality checks. The inspected components, each fully traceable and meeting International Civil Aviation Organization standards, are now part of AerFin’s extensive inventory of aircraft spare parts available for lease or sale worldwide.

AerFin’s strategic director, Edward Butt, voiced his enthusiasm about the company’s expansion: “The completed purchase and teardown of the B777-300ER aircraft signifies a significant development for AerFin. It increases our capability to provide comprehensive aircraft solutions globally, both from a lease and sale perspective.”

Numerous industry analysts regard the B777-300ER aircraft as one of the most economically efficient twin-aisle aircraft within the aviation industry, thanks to its advanced technology and high operational performance.

The completion of the B777-300ER teardown indicates AerFin’s continued move towards extending the life of aviation assets, reducing environmental impact, and providing lucrative solutions for airlines worldwide. The company’s recall of the aircraft’s components for lease or sale purposes underscores the prevailing industry trend of cost-effectiveness and sustainability.
