Deion Sanders, football legend and father to rising star Shedeur Sanders, has dismissed speculations about his son refusing to play for certain NFL teams. Addressing rumors that his son would not play for the New York Giants or Cleveland Browns, Deion said the allegations were unfounded.

The renowned former player who serves as the football coach at Jackson State and is also the father to Shedeur, a star recruit, came out to clear the air regarding his son’s potential NFL career. The detractors claimed the father-son duo has a list of teams they would refuse, highlighting the Giants and Browns.

Deion took a step to refute these claims during an interview with Rich Eisen on the Rich Eisen Show. Sanders stated, “That’s the most ludicrous thing I’ve ever heard.” He further explained the claims were completely contrary to the truth. “That’s like me saying I wouldn’t work for NBC or CBS because of this or that. They have the same opportunity as everybody else. We love everybody,” added Sanders.

He made it clear that his son has no preferences or dislikes when it comes to where he might wind up playing in the NFL. Shedeur, who currently plays as a quarterback for Trinity Christian School in Texas, has several years to go before being eligible for the NFL draft, which should take place in 2022, according to present calculations.

Ending any further speculation, Deion stated, “We haven’t communicated, we haven’t verbalized, we haven’t muttered, we haven’t whispered anything remotely close to that,” regarding claims of favouring certain NFL prospects over others. Stressing that they would respect any and all NFL opportunities, he concluded the conversation around his son’s potential future career choices.
