Eric Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, has shared his thoughts on his current predicament of having to leave his newer project, Haunted Chocolatier, on the shelf. He described the situation as “a little sad,” acknowledging that this reality evolved due to the exceptional popularity and size of Stardew Valley.

Stardew Valley, which Barone created by himself, is a popular farming simulation game earning worldwide acclaim. On the other hand, Haunted Chocolatier, his recently developed project, has had to take a back seat due to the overwhelming success and continued demands of Stardew Valley.

“It’s been a little sad to see Haunted Chocolatier getting dusty on the shelf, but this is the reality of my situation,” stated Barone. Despite the divergence of his efforts towards maintaining the popular Stardew Valley, it’s evident that Barone still holds a soft spot for Haunted Chocolatier.

Undeniably, Barone’s attachment to the newer project demonstrates the challenges independent game developers face in managing time and resources when one of their creations becomes a big hit. His insights provide a glimpse into the reality behind success in the video game industry.
